About The Artist
Larry Warkentin began
painting in 1977 as a hobby. He is self-taught
and has spent many hours
perfecting his craft. He loves the outdoors and
has enjoyed many hours bird
watching. The graceful movements of birds
and their unique coloring have
captivated him. He has a particular
fondness for Canadian and American
bird species. His paintings focus on
the distinctive coloring and
plumage of each bird and they also reflect his
attention to detail.
Larry has spent numerous years in
the Northwest Territories,
Canada's
Arctic. It was during his years in the
Arctic where he began to paint other
species of wildlife which can be seen in his northern collection.
Larry is an active student of
theology and a clergyman by profession. It is
his conviction that art is truly
one of God’s gifts to us.
Larry’s watercolors can be found
throughout Canada from the east coast
to the west coast, including the
Arctic. Great Britain has also been home
to some of Larry’s works.
