Bald Eagle

The Bald Eagle is by far the most majestic of all bird species.  The fierce appearance of its eye and brow on its

uniquely white head create the challenge to capture the deportment of this bird.  On one occasion while I was

cleaning my fish after one of my many fishing trips in the Northwest Territories, I heard the approach of an

eagle behind me and laying claim to the scraps left behind.  I was astounded at the profound wingspan of

this bird as it made a low pass overhead.  The sound of the downbeat of the wings of this regal and stately

bird of prey I will not soon forget.  He landed  on a nearby tree to wait until I had finished my tasks and left

the scene.  This became one of several inspirations for this painting
